Privacy policy
Derek is a personal assistant you message on WhatsApp or SMS. It is in private testing. This policy explains what Derek collects, why, and how you can have it deleted.
What we collect
- Your phone number and, if you create an account, your name and email address.
- The messages you send Derek and its replies.
- Things you ask Derek to remember, such as reminders, preferences, calendar details and saved logins.
How we use it
Only to carry out what you ask: answering questions, setting reminders, adding calendar events and making bookings you approve. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
To work, Derek passes messages through a small number of providers: WhatsApp (Meta) or Twilio to deliver messages, an AI model provider to write replies, and Google Calendar if you connect it. Each receives only what it needs for that step. Saved logins and personal details are encrypted, and the AI model never sees them.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you use Derek. You can ask us to delete everything at any time; see delete your data.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how it is used. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
